Beat

I am done with the free museums! There are still some left I have not seen, but I am burnt out and I cant take anymore. The best museums were the Holocaust museum and the Textile museum.

On Thursday I was in the right lane riding my bike up to a curb so I could turn left onto the cross walk and get to the perpendicular street. When all of the sudden, I look up, and its my friend Nathan Connoley!! I met him at a Future Islands show at Outerspace, and he lives in North Carolina. It was such an awesome coincidence.

We killed time and took a stroll around China Town and ate a ton of free samples at the farmers market on 7th st. before he boarded the Metro.

He was just visiting DC as well. He got a job doing animation on the west coast, so he wanted to see the east before he left for a while.

Before I got to the zoo yesterday, I decided to ride around as much of the W&OD (washington and old dominion) trails as I could. I wish there were good maps on the trails, because I got super lost and ended up far away from where I was trying to go. Not only did I wear myself out and get a little sun burnt, but I fell (more than once) going up hill because I couldnt get my left clip out of my pedal. I am still not used to the cleats. And practicing with them in new areas, with heavy panniers, especially hilly ones is a bit scary.

I have more photos of Arlington cemetery, Jefferson memorial, cityscape and views on my ipod that I will post later.

Thank you for viewing.

Today will be my last day in Vienna at my friends parents house. Dr. Hwong & Mrs. Nwin have been so hospitibal. I especially am greatful for Mrs. Nwin showing me photos of traditional vietnamiese weddings, and telling me about her first hand encounters on living in a society that honored the Cast system.Linus and his parents live in a very safe neighbourhood, and it is by far the most luxurous and clean house I have ever stayed in. Tomorrow I will be in the city.  I will keep you posted on my next destination.
