New York is a wonderfully diverse place with many resources. You can find just about anything you want and for cheap. It's really not all that expensive. What becomes expensive is there is so much to do that you may find yourself constantly seeing music, ( because many good acts are coming there), and eating out ( because there is so much variety and it's usually a lot for a little).

Another myth about new york that I have to dispute is that people there are mean. It's quite the contrary, peope are so nice and helpful, locals and transplants alike.



I rode my bike to Prospect Park to get quiet and be alone. And it though is a wonderful park that has a great botanical garden (free on tuesdays) & huge bike and running lanes surrounding it, there were still tons of f people there. I could hear five conversations.
