Where I sleep/ Im still in NYC

So I have not had much luck in NY with courchsurfing.com. None of the people I have contacted have responded. luckily I have some gracious friends & I am good at meeting people. So I have yet to use the website, except for once in Takoma DC, where I stayed with a communal house of Burning Man folks. They were awesome!! They each had their own story or talent to share (balloon animals, homebrew, etc). & the house was very clean for 6 people living there. Comfortable one night stay.

takoma is a small town at the end of the red line metro. though it is small it has a couple bike shops, an older artist community and the best grocery co-op i have ever been to. i would live here if I lived in DC

Before I went to Takoma I was getting off the metro and walking around in Dupont Circle looking in this healthy vegetarian guide booklet that this lady gave me;  I was trying to get some coffee at a non-chain coffee place. These two guys that were there for the pride parade that just happened, (which i heard was really crazy and flashy) commented on my glasses. They were looking for a specific book  and then coffee aswell. So the conversation evolved and we ended up hanging out together, looking for the book they needed, and talking for a long time, than going to the American Indian Museum:

Native American Museum: no corners. curved to keep the evil spirits out.
I spent two nights on the couch of flamboyant intellectuals Conley & Chris.

After I arrived in Brooklyn and stayed at a friend from Charleston's place for a week, I met some people at the shows I was going to, and while riding my bike. I am currently in another communal house of all vegan kids. There are 13 people here who are into many different things. School teacher, babysitter, opera singer, artist, acupuncturist, and a couple of crust punk dumpster divers. Everyone rides a bike, so the bike hall is super jammed. Its a welcoming and healthy atmosphere, and I have yet to meet everybody dwelling there.

Exploring Manhattan:
Central park is so huge you can get lost. I am glad it is there because otherwise I would completely dislike Manhattan all together. Not fun to ride your bike in central Manhattan. All there is is ped. traffic not obeying traffic signals and Taxis, and we all know how they drive.

I went to time square. Or the zoo of people surrounded by moving billboard media. I appreciate the visual overload, as it was one I doubt I could experience anywhere else,  though it did make me feel a little sick. Go during the day for full claustrophobia and panic.

I saw the MET, it was donation only (ex: 1cent)
I saw IceAge play again (but for free this time) at a record store in Manhattan. It was splended.

Oh, and after riding your bike for an hour or so, take a white paper towel and wipe your face, there will be so much dirt and black grime that comes off. I hope I didnt inhale too much.
